I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 26 on March 20, 2012. Stage 2 infiltrating ductal carcinoma. My tumor was 2.1cm and I had one internal mammary lymph node that tested positive for canced.
I received neo-adjuvant chemotherapy -- 4 dose dense rounds of Adriamycin and Cytoxan. After some testing it was decided I would receive 12 treatments of Taxol administered weekly.
After completing chemo and allowing my body a break, I opted for a bilateral mastectomy with nipple sparing. Also had tissue expanders placed at the same time to prep me for breast reconstruction later. Due to how thin my skin was on my right breast, I lost my right nipple. I recovered and began radiation therapy in later December '12. I ran into many speed bumps and complications during this time. Requiring countless breast more visions. I eventually completed rads the first week of May '13.
And on August 29, I just had my expander swap surgery. I finally have my implants in. Now here's to hoping and praying it all heals smoothly. ;)
