Your Story

My world stopped January 28, 2012 at 10:38 am. That is when I learned I had breast cancer. Actually, I suspected it 2 weeks prior, when I found my lump at 12:00 on my right breast. I just knew somethibg wasn't right. After stressing through the diagnostic mammogram and the lovely ultrasound. "It is a mass" said the Radiologist. Duh. I knew it was not a cyst, they don't hurt and they are pea.shaped. This was totally different. Luckily, the next morning I could have a needle.biopsy. (Such a pleasant experience!) Now the waiting game begins.

Let me back up though, my name is Dawn Dickinson and I am 51. I am a Clinique Counter Manager for Marcy's. I have a wonderful husband of 19 years and 2 adult step-sons and 2 daughter-in-laws. I will be a grandmother for the first time in May. I also have a wonderful support group of family and friends to help me get through this.

My first appointment with my surgeon was 02/01/2012. I was told I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Triple Negative Stage II. Good news, no lumpectomy because of your lupus, no radiation to shrink the tumor. So, mastectomy all the way. And I guess chemo too. And I'm terrified. I hope I make it. Please God let me make it!
