Should I get a mamagram, since breast cancer is on both sides of my family

    It depends--what relatives have had breast cancer? If a first degree relative and on maternal side I believe unless it's changed they recommend a baseline 10 years younger than the relative was when they were diagnosed. That's what they were saying when I last did Mammograms in '05. Check with your Dr. and see what they say about it.

      My dads mother died from BC, my mom was just diagnosed, an getting a masectomy next week, im going to have a mamagram just tk be safe, than sorry, thanks

    You should ask the oncologist who is treating you mom.

    It doesn't hurt to ask GYN. Early detection is the key. I too have cancer on both sides of my family. I would say yes get that mammo ASAP just to be on safe side.
