Can anyone tell me about exchange surgery? I am having it on Thursday. Painful? Recovery? Things I may need? Thanks!

Good luck to you! My son's Christening is in a few weeks. Hope that I'm better for that day!

Compared to what you have been through, this surgery/recovery should be easier. The biggest pain is the drain! The implant feels so much better than the expander. Wishing you a smooth surgery and recovery! Keep us posted. We care about you!

Thank you! I am hoping for no drain, but if I get one at least I'll know what to do:)

Amy it will depend on if it just an exchange or if revisions will be done also. I just had an exchange. Shoulders hurt from laying out on the table. He cut the existing scar. No feeling there, so no pain. I did not have a drain. 2 week restriction of no lifting or stretching. Soooo much better than expanders. They will be swollen and high for awhile. Prayers to you.

Thank you. So hopefully I can hold my son in three weeks. He's just 14 weeks.

Oh gosh yes. If it's just the exchange, you'll be holding him that day. If he does revisions & depending on what all is done. (You should be told what all he will do) your looking at 2 weeks. Just be carful of lifting.

I just got my implants put in 4 weeks ago. Plastic surgeon had to do a lot of shaping, tucking etc so I had more stitches than expected. It was more painful than I expected, but nothing compared to the mastectomy. There were no drains from exchange and the implants feel like heaven compared to expanders. Good luck to you!!

I'm looking forward to the 'heavenly' implants. These are like rocks! I've had them for a year and 3 months. I'm done with them. Thanks for your response
