I recently found a lump and am going through priliminary testing. My head is spinning. My mom was only 51 when it claimed her life 36 years ago. I am trying to stay positive, but I am more of the worse case scenario type of person.

I found it helpful to remember "I am in God's hands and there is no better place to be". You are not your mother and you are not a statistic, you are you and, as already stated, there have been huge advances in both detection and treatment. Take a deep breath, and take one step at a time. I will pray for negative results on the tests, but if they are not negative, that is not the end. It is the beginning of a journey of healing. Mary

You control your thoughts. Perhaps if you tell yourself that you need to think positively for your family and that you cannot waste time and energy on negative thinking. As Moms, we can do just about anything for our kids.

When you think negatively say "stop" and replace the thought with a positive one like " Jesus I trust in you" or another positive thought that you like. Do things that occupy your mind. I find it helpful to get out in nature because I feel closer to God. Do things with your family. Kids can be the best therapy :) God Bless.

Know that we are all here for you. Turn this over to God and try not to get to upset now. They have many, many more treatments more then 36 years ago. Women are living with and being cured of breast cancer now. I know how scared you must be but remember we are all praying for you.

You are going through the natural emotions..This is scary stuff..i know it even get scarier because of your mother's battle. I have been there too. i was diagnosed 1yr after my mother passed from ovarian cancer. Right now just concentrate on going healthy. I would suggest that you bring someone with you and take notes. take time to make your decisions. Know that your choices are right for you. I stayed off the internet about my cancer because as you go through this journey, you will learn that no one has the same cancer. I'm sorry you have joined our club, but now you have support and that you are not alone...
