About how long is the recovery for TE -> implant exchange (one side only, with lift on other side)? Need to estimate time off from work. Thanks.

It depends on your job duties and guidance from your doctor. I was off 2 weeks for the same procedures because I was a special ed teacher and had to lift students. If you have drains, (I did for about a week) you probably shouldn't return until after they are removed. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and great results!!!

I had both sides done on a wednesday and COULD have gone back that next Monday. I took a few more days as I was still sore and it was at Christmas! Hope all goes well for you!!

Thanks, Alissa, Michele, and Marianne for your replies. This helps a lot. I haven't decided yet whether to go with a silicon implant or DIEP, so trying to understand everything I can about both. Marianne, what made you decide to go the DIEP route? My understanding is that's a much more substantial surgery and recovery so I'm surprised by your estimate of a week and a half time off from work. When you say the tummy needs very little work, what does that mean? If a DIEP can indeed be done with minimal tummy impact and fairly short recovery time, that could definitely sway me in that direction. Any info / insights you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
