After you exhaust all your work sick days, what have you ladies turned to for continued income? Short term disability? Unemployment?

    As you can see, it depends on what your employer offers. I was fortunate. I initially went on short-term disability, then onto long-term disability. FMLA, or "Family Medical Leave Act," is a federal law that requires employers to give you 12 weeks' leave for certain medical reasons. You won't lose your job during that time. However, there is no requirement that your employer has to pay you for the 12 weeks. Most states also have disability. It's not as much as a private plan through you employer, but it's something.     Oops, sorry, I hit the wrong button. I had only a few sick days as well, so I also lost my job. I now am applying for long term disability. You can file for unemployment if your doctor says you are able to work. You can try long term social security disability but be prepared to be denied the first time. They deny everyone the first time and make it difficult so that people who don't really need it wont bother to keep trying to get it.

    My job didn't offer short term disability. (less than 50 employees). Also no FMLA same reason. My job also fired me. I applied for Grants....
