I have a tissue expander under my skin called a neo derm matrix. My doctor tried to put under my pec muscle but couldn't and it is soo uncomfortable. It has a small amount of sir in it and its rather flat for now. Its been 19 days since surgery and its been pretty crappy. I have a couple good days and then bad cuz I'm hhaving severe anxiety and wds I think from the ppain meds. Is anyone else suffering like this? HELP Tishi

Yes, tissue expanders are very uncomfortable. Take whatever you need to make it easier for you to cope with. It will all be over before you know it. I have had my expanders in for eight months, they are still a little uncomfortable at times but not too bad. I am just waiting to go back into hospital in a couple of weeks to have them removed and replaced with larger expanders, both my doctor and myself were not happy with the size I ended up with so I am just about to start all over again but it will be worth it.

definitely, and with me it got worse as they continued to expand. You eventually adjust to it but not completely.

OMG, what a coincidence. I had my latest reconstruction in May. The right one was from an old mastectomy, and the left one was new. The new side hurt SO much more than the old one! It got pretty uncomfortable, particularly when I tried to sleep (but usually all the time). Sorry to say mine never "softened and relaxed" until after they took it out and put the implant in. How many more cc's do you have to go? When are you scheduled for your reconstruction? I think you just have to live with it. Your description is EXACTLY what I went through. The new one was hard as a rock.
Let me know how much longer it will be for you. Also, FYI, I didn't even try to wear a bra. I wore camisoles and they worked just fine.

Completely normal. It's the stretching of the pec muscle that is the most uncomfortable. Be prepared. Every time the fill you, the stretch and discomfort starts all over again. Valium helped. Acted as a muscle relaxant.

Yes. That is very very normal. The implants will be a lot more comfortable, just hang in there it's very well worth the wait.

Yes they are miserable. Don't be too hard on yourself take something to ease the pressure. I have only had one expansion so far many more to go just trying to keep positive that the end result will be great. Healthy and here to talk about it.
