I've tried answering this several times but the site hasn't allowed me to so will try again. I used to do mammograms and this is what we'd do. If a lumpectomy was done then the routine views would be done on both breasts. If a mastectomy was done with no reconstruction then the routine 2 views of the remaining breast but if some sort of reconstruction was done or implants put in then the routine 2 views of each breast. Breasts with implants require twice as many pictures either with or without a mastectomy. It is still important to do your monthly breast exam and a yearly one by your doctor even with a mastectomy.
