I am a breast cancer survivor. I was diagnosed at age 47 with Stage 1 triple positive(ER/PR/HER+) breast cancer in July, 2010 after having a routine annual mammogram. My treatment was a lumpectomy followed by my entering a clininical trial in which I had 6 cycles of chemotherapy and then 36 radiation treatments. I will be on tamoxifen for five years. I have a family history of breast cancer as my mother was diagnosed at age 35 and had a recurrence at 47 which took her life at 51. I did proceed with genetic testing and do not have the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene. I am thankful for early detection due to mammography. I know it saved my life. This website has been a good resource for me to ask and answer questions. It is helpful to read about other people's experiences with treatment.
