I was diagnosed with breast cancer on July 23, 2010 at teh age of 50. I had a partial mastectomy and radiation. The surgery was pretty painless, but the radiation is EXHAUSTING. I also lost the support of my family, which was worse than the cancer. Both my sister and brother decided to take this time to send me nasty emails and just be so cruel. Luckily I have a husband and two daughters that have been wonderful, but losing the family feels like a death to me. I can't imagine doing that to someone. Having support during that period is so crucial to the recovery. I have chosen to take the positive out of this situation. People have been so wonderful. People I don't even know have given me hugs. People have sent me cards. Organizations have sent support. Then there is the "breast cancer" sisterhood. It's a club you didn't choose to belong to, but the women are wonderful in this club. They would do anything for each other.
