I started off as a family member/loved one but have graduated(?), lucky me, to a patient myself. It started with a lump that I found in March of this year (2013) which then showed up on a mammogram. After another mammogram and an ultrasound I was told by the Dr that it was just a cyst, that I should come back next year for my regular mammogram.
I saw my Gyn about two weeks later and she sent me to a Breast Health Center where the "cyst" was biopsied and determined to be Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. I had the BRCA test, since my oldest sister was just finishing up her treatments for her IDC. Negative on the gene, so I am having my lumpectomy next week, to be followed by chemo and radiation.
