I was 28 when I went in for what was supposed to be a simple Fibrous cyst, it was not. I had stage 3 breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy, and lymp nodes removed. I also opted for both radiation and chemotherapy. I was a mother of 2 very young children at the time and did not want them to know I was ill. I had a great support network of family and friends to help me through the tough times. I have never taken any other preventive drugs or treatments since the end of my chemotherapy. I have fortunately been cancer free for over 20 years. My daughter who is now 27 gets regular exams and we try to spread the word that early detection can save lives, I am living proof.
