Your Story

I am 33, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer Aug. 6, 2011. I had lumpectomy Aug. 17th, 2011, and started 6 rounds of chemo Sept. 12, 2011. I just finished chemo Dec. 23rd, 2011 and will start radiation of 35 treatments in Jan. 2012. I was staged 2A due to size of lump and had no spread to lymph nodes. I found the lump on my own July 4th weekend and immediately had it checked out as I have so much Breast Cancer in my family. My maternal grandmother and great aunt, as well as my maternal great grandmother. I just didn't think it would be cancer at my age, no one in my family got it in their 30's. I felt so lost and alone especially being in my early 30's and I really wanted to connect to other women going thru this, so I joined 2 support groups for younger women and this has helped so much, I am not alone in this journey and they all have helped me get thru treatment. I love this site and this is also another way that women can bond, express themselves, talk about anything and no one to judge them or feel sorry. That's the last thing I wanted, a pity party. So I got thru the hair loss, the chemo, and radiation is next part. Due to my stage and size of lump, masectomy was not necessary for me, so radiation is a must. I am a single mother of a 6 yr old son and all I want to is to live my life and see my son grow up, hopefully remarry some day. Good luck to all the women going thru this battle, but just believe it has made us all stronger.
