Your Story

I was diagnosed with Invasive ductal carcinomao last March (2011). The tumor ended up to be over 6 cmm. It was a grade 1 and apparently had been there for a very long time. 12 nodes were removed, 5 were positive). I am 49 years old.
I have no idea how I could miss that in the shower but I digress. I had a double mastectomy with expanders. 3 months later I had the expander taken out due to major discomfort and silicon (size a) put in. It's been a nightmare ever since. I just finished my 6th round of chemo and am supposed to start radiation (6/5 weeks).
I am constantly feeling very stiff and rigid, like I'm carrying a bunch of rocks in and around my chest. This has become a quality of life issue. My Plastic Surgeon says he can take the silicones out but can't guarantee that they are what is causing the problem. No one seems to know what is going on, they all say I'm just fine and treat me like I'm crazy. Perhaps I am.
