April2012 had an abnormal mammogram. Medical staff felt it was probably a papilloma and we could either have it removed or wait and see. I had it removed and it did turn out to be a papilloma. Come back in six months for a follow-up mammogram to make sure we got it, they told me. So, october2012 I had the follow- up mammogram, radiologist wanted another picture, then he wanted an ultrasound, then a biopsy! Totally different spot from the April issue. Biopsy was positive for cancer:( I had a lumpectomy the following week with sentinel node biopsy. The nodes were clear and the margins were clean. Diagnosis stage 1 infiltrating ductal carcinoma with adjacent ductal carcinoma in situ. Will start radiation after I heal from the surgery followed by hormone therapy. Waiting for the results of the oncotype dx test to see if chemo will precede radiation.
