I found out I had breast cancer 8-03-12. I had a lumpectomy 8-22-12. I also had 3 sentinel lymph nodes removed. My nodes looked ok at the time of surgery but the pathologist found micro involvement in one. I'm stage 2, grade 2, hormone receptor positive, HER-2 negative, node positive. I've seen the radiologist and I will have 34 radiation treatments. I don't know if I am going to have to do chemo yet. I will have to do hormone therapy. My oncologist mentioned Arimidex. I'm having the oncotype DX done now and just had a PET scan done. I have a follow up appointment with my oncologist on 10-04-12 to find out the results of both tests. I guess I'll know then if I'm doing chemo.
I'm 55, married , and have 3 boys. One boy is a senior in high school and our 20 year old is still at home. Our oldest boy has a 3 year old daughter that we baby sit Mon. through Thurs. We are so blessed to have her. I have a very loving supportive husband. I come from a large family with 4 sisters and 1 brother. I am very lucky to have so much support.
I finished ACT chemo Jan. 23. It is now Feb. 17 and I can't wait for my hair to grow back. Since I finished, I have lost more of what little stubble I had left. I also have lost most of my eyebrows and some of my lashes. Good news is my mammogram came back negative. I'm still waiting on the results of my MRI. I see the radiology oncologist Feb. 20 and will probably start my rads soon after. 5 days a week for 7 weeks and 56 mi. away. It figures that gas prices are going up! I'll make it one way or another! :)
