This is my understanding of the 2 but I'm not a doctor. Triple negative means the tumor is negative for Estrogen, Progesterone, and the HER2 factors. Metastatic BC means it has spread outside the breast to other areas of the body. There are some great videos on this site that explain things in easy to understand phrases, etc.

Indeed. The negative is assessment of how it feeds. The other assesses location beyond the breast. Lymph node involvement though is not considered this.

    Learning About Breast Cancer
I was diagnose with triple negative. In 2013 after lumpectomy, chemo and radiation was cancer free in 2014 when scheduled to have mastectomy at pre op surgeon noticed that I had a large area of rash so I thought. Turns out it's a secondary cancer in the skin now diagnose as metastatic breast cancer stage 4. My specialist said its a continual disease with chemo it can go into remission or as long as God says you can live for quite a few years. Mine has been contained to my breast for almost a year. There's no discussion for mastectomy for now cause my marker were 3.9 now 3.5 slowly going down so my chemo is working so far. God bless and keep us posted. Everyone is different as well as the treatments specialists use. Keeping you in my prayers.
