Learning About Breast Cancer
I am a 35 yo Chinese. I follow healthy diet n lifestyle and have an average BMI. I don't drink or smoke n have absolutely no family history in breast cancer. I don't have sweet teeth n take very little dairy as I have lactose intolerance. I got diagnosed with DCIS two weeks ago n it was a real shock to me, my family n friends!!! Lucky it's at stage 0 and I had a surgery done last week. I'm all fine now (thanks to my great medical team!). I did go through the time of asking 'why me?' and 'what have I eaten wrong?' but later on I couldn't be bothered to find the answers. I just accepted the fact that I had a bit of bad luck n moved on. However, being brought up in a Chinese culture, it's always believed that dairy products, caged chicken, fatty n charcoaled meats encourage the growth of cancer cells. I don't know if this would help but I believe the best way to deal with the disease is to stay alert on any changes of your body. Just a note - I found a lump in my right breast accidentally during a shower just before Christmas. I had been damn lucky n wish other ladies can share my luck by raising their awareness of doing regular self checks.
