There is a lot more than just size that is important. The type of breast cancer, how aggressive the cancer is (grade) whether it is reactive to hormones and how many positive lymph nodes are involved. My friend had a huge tumor but it was non-aggressive. So size isn't everything for sure in breast cancer. Mine was 2.2 cm, Take care, Sharon

That's the reason I ended up doing an MRI as there was a discrepency between the screening mammo, the additional views, and the U/S and they wanted to determine the size before doing anything else.

Size doesn't matter so much, the pathology of the tumor and whether it has spread to lymph nodes is more important. The size of the tumor is a factor in staging cancer, and yours is on the smaller side which is good.

I had a 1.4 and then found it to be larger 2.4 after surgery it measured 5.1. .. Don't why it differed so much . If it stays 1.6 that would be great.

Lump size varies a great deal. My lump was 1.3 centimeters, had one lymph node positive and was still considered an early stage cancer. It was small enough to have surgery first, then chemo. It is important to find out the type and grade of cancer to find out how aggressive it is and to determine the appropriate treatment plan. Keep the questions coming, we care about you!

Yours is in smaller size, but as everyone says there are other factors. What grade is it?.. To determine how agressive ... How fast it grows..
