Did anyone gain weight during chemo from steroids? Did it come off naturally after treatments were done? I just finished chemo and I have put on weight since I started.

Thanks so much ladies. This is encouraging. Being bald and fat is not a good look.. Lol. I done with chemo as of last week and I can't wait to feel back to my old self. I feel like none of my clothes fit, but I refuse to shop for bigger sizes. I will just see in time if the weight just drops off. I'm sure it will once those steroids are out of my system.

I love this post! I thought I was the only one who felt that way. I have been an avid runner and lift weights 3-5 days a week. I by all means haven't been able to continue that vigorous regimen during treatment and have gotten very discouraged with my body. My last treatment is on Friday and double mastectomy in march. I am so over the bald and fat cancer body. I'm ready to get my body back. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who feels this way and am encouraged by others that their weigh came off fast :)

Hi Brooke, wow I can really relate. I began chemo in May, had my mastectomy, then more chemo. I have three more to go and I have gained approx. 15 lbs. I asked my Oncologist about the weight gain and she said it was normal and due to the steroids. She also said the weight would come off after my treatments are finished. :)

Greetings Brooke, I gained 30 pounds while going through my 16 chemo treatments as a result of being on steroids. I was very discouraged by the weight gain. However, my oncologist constantly told me that I would lose the weigh after completing my treatments. Two (2) months after finishing my treatments she was so right. I lost 25 of the 30 pounds and I have to admit I was not exercising on a regular basis nor was I dieting. I honestly was eating more since my taste buds returned and I could enjoy my food. Stay encouraged and be assured that you will lose those extra pounds once you complete your treatments. Knowing what I now know I regret that I didn't exercise on a regular basis after completing my treatments I proably would have lost the entire 30 pounds sooner than I did. Love and Blessings Your Sister Of Hope!!!!!

Tyronzia, I just read your story. We have the same story pretty much. I was 32 when I was diagnosed Aug. this year. I also am triple negative, Cancer in ducts. I found lump on my own also, went to dr. Right away, ultrasound, biopsy. I was diagnosed Aug. 6th. I too am a mother of a yr old son. I had lumpectomy aug 17th, no lymph node involvement. 6 sessions of chemo started sept 12. I just finished chemo Dec 23. Starting radiation in about 2 weeks. Will have 35 treatments. It's been a rough journey, but we are still here. Hang on, we all have each other for support.

I am currently going through chemo and have gained 9 pounds so far and the weight is increasing. I hav an aunt who has been through this and she to gained weight and she says this is common but the weight comes off. Im sure with some dieting this might help with the process. I always call her and say to her i've gained weight and she responds that she gained weight but that is normal and the weight you can always lose. I wish you all the best with the weight loss and remeber your beautiful no matter what.
