I don't believe they grow back, but often the lymph finds other paths to move through the body. It's pretty impossible for surgeons to remove every lymph node in an area so you usually have some left to do the work. I got this info from my lymphedema PT.

Christine, it's good to see a PT that's a lymphedema specialist before your node surgery. They can measure you beforehand, give you exercises and teach you self massage for lymph flow. I have been wearing a sleeve as prevention during chemo and rads, doing the exercises, hoping to hear this week that I don't need the sleeve everyday anymore and can just use it for flying and heavy lifting:)

Nope, they don't grow back. We do have others . I had 13 out in February and I am doing fine. I get massages and do exercises to help the fluid go to other nodes. Two best lymph exercises- jump on trampoline or rebounder and when sitting flex your foot up and down. I wear a compression sleeve my dic gave when doing lifting and will for flying.

Hi, Mimi, I was interested in the foot flexing. Do you mean just flexing your foot up and down, or lifting your leg straight out too.

Just your foot flex up towards your leg and down towards floor... Muscle movement keeps lymph flowing...

I sure hope not as I had 8 removed. I know the little fluid buildup I had after my move went from my arm down to my chest just below where the breast was and didn't feel really good but I knew there are lymph nodes there to remove it.
