Ok ladies - I have a question. I have filled my prescription for aromas in. Doctor said take it any time of day as long as I am consistent. Do you have suggestions? And has anyone been fortunate enough to escape side effects?

I have been taking arimidex since December, 2011. I have always taken it in the morning along with my other prescription meds. I have been fortunate to have no side effects.

I take Arimidex and I take it before bed. Hot flashes....well not really flashes, just stay gosh awful hot all the time. I am ok other than that. Good luck.

Thanks a bunch. It helps to hear from someone who has been there.

Hi. I take it in am with other meds. I have tolerable side effects but not bad. Do yoga, cardio, exercise and keep moving. It is very doable.

I take Gemara and have had a rough but manageable road. Gave in and take low dose of Effexor for the mood swings and hot flashes. Good luck!

I took it after dinner - the directions say to take it after eating. After any meal should be fine, as long as it's consistent. I took it for six months, but the the side effects became intolerable. Hopefully you'll have better luck!

Did you switch to another medicine? Or just stop?

I switched to Evista. So far, "only" heartburn, insomnia and "warm" flashes - I'm doing okay. I pride myself on being strong, so felt like a failure when I had to stop Aromasin.

P.S. I had to be off Aromasin for a month before switching to Evista. I felt like I was on vacation!

Mmm, I guess I will start it and hope for the best. It's kind of scary especially since I just found out I have osteoporosis too, which means my poor bones will take a beating.

Try to do weight bearing exercises & take calcium with vit D. I assume you have DCIS, too?

Yep. Caught early, had unilateral mastectomy. Halfway thru expander & filling. Should get implant in October - blessed to not need chemo or radiation. Plan to take Meds but concerned about quality of life versus reducing risk of reoccurrence

I totally understand. How did you make the decision re: mastectomy?

I was leaning toward lumpectomy at first, but the surgeon said there was another suspicious spot at a different location which would mean more tissue would be removed. I decided just take the whole thing and build me a new one. : )

I was on both femra and aromas in, had severe hot flashes on both. Citalopram hlped with the femra side effects andeffexor has helped with the other. Good luck.
