My cancer was er and pr positive. Have any of you ladies voluntarily had a hysterectomy or just removed your ovaries just for the peace of mind knowing they can't start back up again? My Ono doesn't recommend " major surgery" . Thanks for your input.

I'm having one in may. I was triple positive. I am 44. Just had a routine pap and endometrial bx to make sure all is well. They recommend getting it all out even though I will b on tamoxifen for 10 years - one less place a cell can grow

I just underwent a total hysterectomy on dec 17. I'm brca 2 positive. Did it because of the high chance of ovarian cancer. Entire medical team recommended it.

My oncologist suggested that I may want to consider a hysterectomy so e time in the future, maybe 5 or so years from now. I am currently 52. He stated that there is no good way to really test for ovarian cancer and that if you've always had a negative PAP that uterine cancer probably won't show up on a PAP in the future. I may consider it when I'm a bit older. I've been through menopause.

My doctor won't do one. She told me she has to wait to see how my body reacts to tamoxifen.

I'm 35 and will be getting one bc I don't want to risk it spreading since I have 3 girls to raise. I figure it can't hurt so why not.

I'm 53, but still had a complete hysterectomy. Six treatments or surgeries this year... Biopsy,Lumpectomy, chemotherapy, hysterectomy, mastectomy, exchange surgery. Still here by the grace of God!

Angela, I had my ovaries out at age 43. I was strongly hormone positive and it has given me great peace of mind. Now the hot flashes are another story.....!
