Hello Jill, Honestly? The surgery is the easiest part of this horrible disease. So follow your docs instructions and you should be fine. I recovered quickly from my lumpectomy and I am so far glad I had the lumpectomy. Your breast tissue will change down the road, but from the lumpectomy, not so much. If they take lymph nodes, that's the more "bothersome" part of it all, my armpit after 9/24 still feel "sensitive" but it is all doable. Please ask them if they plan on giving you morphine or pain killers. I opted for NON MORPHINE... pain killers are better. Good luck to you and gentle hugs :) Radiation girl.

Best wishes Jill. The lumpectomy was the easiest part of my treatment. The node surgery was a little uncomfortable. It all was so much easier than I had imagined. I was so glad to know finally this scary disease was out of my body.

I'm happy you are doing well. When will you know for sure about the rest of your treatment? The best news is you have clear nodes and margins. Take care friend and pls keep in touch. Hugs

Thanks so much for your kind words Jill. I don't mind talking with you at all. I am sure this period is so difficult not knowing the results. My results and treatment plan were pretty straight forward so I knew what the plan was soon after my diagnosis. I had a biopsy...then the port placement and chemo all within 3 and 1/2 weeks. I really love talking with you. You are special. Please let me know what the next step is in your treatment. Hope all is well with you. Hugs...jayme :-)

If you have drains they are a pain but the sugery is not difficult at all. If they don't get clear margins you may have to do a second surgery.

Blessings to you. This is the beginning of good health. Stay hydrated, rest and treat yourself like the special person you are, stay mobile and keep your stitches dry, follow all directives from the doctor and call him if you have real concerns. Keep us posted. :-) Jo

Wear soft comfy clothing and a top that's easy to get into. Being a small pillow for the ride home. As the others have said... It's really not that bad. Positive thoughts and prayers to you!

Wear clothes that button or zip up the front and a sports bra that connects in the front. The process was relatively simple. I went in about 8 and was home by 4.

I was sore but nothing I couldn't handle, only took Tylenol and Advil didn't need anything stronger, also had one node removed, it was tender and was swollen for a few weeks, it's doable, it's the easiest part of this whole journey, best of luck

Jill you have good advise here. Don't worry, your gonna be ok. I had more discomfort from the lymph nodes than the lump. When it starts healing & the nerves 'wake up', watch out. For me it was like being zapped with a tazzer under my arm kinda the back area. It didn't last long but it always made me jump & my husband would laugh at me. Prayers to you.

I agree with everyone saying this is one of the easier things in this treatment adventure! I never had any surgery of any kind before and was scared like crazy. It wasn't nearly as dramatic as I had myself worked up to be. Good wishes coming your way...

Jill, I know this is very scary for you but the procedure itself is on the lower end of drama as far as surgery's go. Head into this as you are getting rid of this unwelcome guest who has invaded your life. You will be ok, and try to have a very positive attitude. You will have soreness but you will be given pain medication for the discomfort. Hang in there darlin' you WILL be fine. God's blessings and take care, Sharon.
