Yes, Connie, I had a recurrence after treatment (15 months). It was devastating because I really had not pulled myself together from the original diagnosis. I'm so thankful to God that it was contained and had not spread. I think the second 'hit' by cancer is worse because you know what to expect the second time around. The way I see it, we smacked that cancer really hard and I dare it to show up again. It is easy to let it get you down...don't let it. I am more grateful everyday for the life I have been given and I

I had bilat mastectomy, chemo, tamoxifen with my first diagnosis. Lymph nodes negative. I had reconstruction a year later...6 weeks after my reconstruction I had the recurrence at the incision line. Negative lymph nodes again, I had the recurrence removed. This was followed by radiation to the breast/infra- and supraclavicular nodes/axilla. To date, my scans are clear and I feel pretty good. The grand finale was total hysterectomy, removal of ovaries and Arimidex. By golly, it was the pits but I am here today to help others navigate and smack that cancer hard!

Yup I'm a two-timer. I had a year before it came back again. First Time around I had mastectomy chemo radiation and hormonal tx. Now it's back in my lymph nodes it was in my liver but chemo got it out and I have 2 small tumors in one lung. I'm taking xeloda and its working for now. It's scary but I do what I have to and enjoy what I can.

I had a reoccurrence at the 4year mark it was found by mammogram at the incision line in 2003 originally had bilateral subcutaneous mastectomy (or nipple saving) with clean margins for DCIS 2005 had suspicious mammogram had further mastectomies removing nipple and areola area for atypical hyperplasia. In 2008 again suspicious mammogram at the incision line DCIS had extensive bilateral mastectomies just leaving a very thin layer of skin like a skin graft over my implants. Had negative lymph nodes have been on tamoxifen for 3 years now in arimidex for another 5 years

I have 4 more taxol treatments but have not returned to work. I will then have radiation for 6 weeks everyday. Has anyone returned to work? I am debating If I should go back or will I get to exhausted and may call in sick and get fired. I have been feeling good and probably should have gone back, but my co-workers say I should just stay home. What is your opinion?

Connie I had a recurrence four years after the initial. The second one totally pissed me off but at least I knew what to expect. Just finished treatment a few weeks ago after surgery and chemo . Hang in there. Always a cloud hanging over us but we can't let it define us.

I had a double mastectomy the first time. Two nodes were involved but my surgeon decided that chemo and rads would take care if it. Those two nodes turned into a family of nine so I fired my surgeon and had lymph nodes removed in march. That's mainly why I was so upset. A good reason to listen to your gut because my gut told me five years ago to insist on removal but I deferred to the experts. Ugh
