My breast hurts and I have always been told that there is no pain with breast cancer but now I hear there can be, what is the truth?

That's a very common myth. But untrue. You cannot go by whether you have pain or not. My lump was painful and it ended up being cancerous. Any lump you discover should be reported to your doctor so a correct diagnosis can be made. Good luck to you. :)

I had pain in my right breast and underarm and went to check it and immediately found a lump. I wasn't worried that it was cancer, because all the books said that breast cancer didn't hurt. I went to get a mammo, but knew that it was a cyst. I was wrong. It is cancer and I go in for surgery next week. It is a myth that it doesn't hurt.

I felt an "ache" in my left breast--but it would come and go. After 3 months, I went in for my annual mammo--and sure enough it turned out to be a cancerous tumor. I did not feel a lump, and neither did my OBGYN. Pay attention to anything that is unusual for your body.
