Treatment at the end of this week! Very nervous! I am booked for chemo unless my gene study proves other wise. Has anyone else been involved in the gene study?

Yes, iwas tested for the BRC1 and BRCA2 gene mutations, if that's what you mean. Mine came pack positive for BRCA2. My Oncotype also was very high, adding to the chance of recurrence. It sure wasn't what I wanted, but there's nothing I can do about it except remain diligent and have frequent checkups.

Some questions. If one or both of you have had a lumpectomy or a partial mastectomy, I have not heard any mention of radiation which is standard care for breast conservation. Did I understand the surgery correctly? Are y'all talking about the OncotypeDX test sent off to determine ER,PR, Her2 positive or negative and the percentage of recurrence and the benefit of chemo? I may be wrong and one of the girls who has done this will clarify it, but if you have lymph node involvement I think chemo is standard. I hope some of the women who post regularly that have had this scenerio in their treatment will jump in. The process is slow when waiting but I would call the doctor with any questions to clarify what options are ahead . My chemo was to be after the radiation but my DX test showed no benefit worth the risks. Good luck and take care. Jo :-D

No scan. They haven't even talked about a scan. The waiting is tough for sure.

I am in a study that they send some of the breast tissue away to California. These results determine the stats on the chances of my cancer reoccurring. If chances are very low....I may not have chemo. Dr's will review the numbers and go from their. Even though I am booked for chemo Friday morning. It has been such a slow process!!! Had a partial mastectomy and lymph nodes removed. Then I had more tissue removed. I had a small amount of cancer in my 1 lymph node. It's been almost 3 months since I found out I have cancer. My nerves are a bit shot.

Let me say I can relate to your feelings. I have been feeling nervous/anxious since my BC DX.

I have been waiting since the end of April when I had my first suspicious mammogram. I too had a partial involved lymph node. As a result I was told I need chemo. I had two partial mastectomies (one of the two was a re-excision). Waiting has been really hard for me. Did you have your PER scan yet?

Do you mean the BRCA test? I am waiting for my results to determine what additional breast surgery I will have and what type of chemo they will give me ( 4 rounds of TC vs 8 Rounds of ACT).

I am so happy for you. They didn't do an Oncotype for me due to two positive lymph nodes and vascular invasion. I was told I would need Chemo no matter what.
