Just found out my platelets are too high- 700 range should be 140-400. They want to do a none one marrow test. What does this entail and what could this mean other than another underlying disorder. Help!

Lisa, Bone marrow tests are usually done in your hip. I have heard it is uncomfortable, but you receive medication to numb the area and you might also have "conscious sedation". Since your platelets are too high, they need to find out why. The bone marrow is where the platelets are "manufactured" so that is why they are going to the source. There could be a ba-zillion reasons. Hang in there, Lisa. Take care, Sharon
