I want to have another child so I was wondering can I wait to take the hormone blocker to get pregnant and then start the pill? I'm 40 years old so I don't want to wait 5 years. Any advice helpful.

During pregnancy your body produces more estrogen and progesterone. If you have a estrogen feeding tumor it may also grow. Other options maybe to harvest your eggs and freeze them for later use. I have heard of women that have gotten pregnant soon after stopping tamoxifen almost like when stopping BCP's. Hard decisions to make. Take care

I am 30 and wanting kids...I asked my oncologist that question every appointment and he never recommends it....he said it is a personal choice and a risk I'd have to take if I did get pregnant. But all of my doctors are against it. It's just a personal choice I guess. :(

I agree with Anne Marie - a pregnancy can feed a breast cancer tumor which is why women with estrogen tumors are advised to wait 5 years. I have a friend who survived at 29 and took tamoxifen for 5 years. She adopted a little boy and is now 35 and expecting her first baby in Sept. I understand your age is a concern. Maybe consider other options...? Good luck!

As a mother and grandmother , if I had a child, doing everything possible to beat cancer and getting well for that child would be a HUGE priority. It is a personal tragedy to no longer be able to have children but we have all experienced the brutality of this disease . Your life is precious and beyond cost to your child and your living will give you the great gift of seeing him/her growing and thriving with your love and nurturing and in not many years that child will more than likely give you more than one grandchild to share the love and wisdom that only a grandmother can give. And who can tell: only God knows if you will or will not have another baby . Take care of you first and everything will fall into place. Love ya. Jo
