      The BRAC 1 & BRAC 2 genes are tumor suppressors. Mutations of these genes can increase the chance of breast and ovarian cancer. There is a genetic test that can be done to check for the mutation. There is some great information here:...

      When you have your annual well woman exams, be sure and mention that your mother has had breast cancer. However, breast cancer is not always genetic and you probably have nothing to worry about.
