I just had a bi-mx 4 weeks ago with tissue expanders. So far I have had 2 fills. My expanders seem to be going outwards and upwards vs. front and center. I'm just wondering if anyone else has these "side boobs" that are driving them crazy. Thank you

Oh my gosh. Your PS needs to put your girls straight I would assume. And fast. Nobody likes back boobs!

Had the same sx on march 6. They were hard and in my armpit. Doctor reassured me not to go by this. It would be fixed with the implant sx. He was right. Implant sx was 2days ago. Natural soft breasts midline. Out of my armpit. Good cleavage. Be patient.

Oh, I am so happy to hear this. THANKS! I've never had cleavage in my life so I looked at this cancer experience as a positive in that respect. I'm getting perky C cups and I was worried that they may stick out too much on the sides. These expanders pinch under my armpits like crazy, but I'll be patient. I think I will have my exchange in October so I can do another 4 months of pain pills.

Hi Anonymous, you just triggered a thought for me. I wonder if my expanders are so flat and wide because they are too big for me? They dig unger my arms and pinch something fierce. You may want to ask your PS about it because my TEs are so uncomfortable. I know they are only temporary, but my PS is very conservative on fills and she only does about 80 to 100 ccs every 3 weeks. So at this rate I won't be ready for my exchange until October and I've already had a few fills. Good luck!

My dr described them as flat basketballs. Once they begin to fill they won't be on the side as much.

Thanks Blair. In my case they are more like flat softballs. But they sure are flat and they sure are uncomfortable. Hopefully more fills will get the girls pointed in the right direction. LOL!!!--Sometimes I just crack myself up!

These answers helped me so much that I wanted to offer my experience, too. I am three weeks out from bilateral mastectomy with expanders and had my first fill yesterday. I've been strong through all of this, but yesterday was a challenge. I was smallbreasted before and am almost the smae size now. This fill was 50cc at my request. Doctor would have done more. Last night was intense pinching under arms and much discomfort. I took valium to relieve muscle spasms and Advil for pain. The GOOD NEWS is that this morning my breasts are round, perky, and not so painful. The fluid/expander system does move and adjust. Do not become discouraged. Be brave!

One of my expanders is wide and flat and the other has more projection and is a bit under my armpit but I am having them removed and replaced with expanders that are twice the size. So that means I have to start all over again but I am happy to do so to get a good result. I am told that they are very different when the permanent implants are put it.

I just had bilateral mastectomy and the expanders have moved to my arm pits. Went for my one week follow up and Dr. Said don't worry but it feel strange and looks strange. Am I going to stay like this until after chemo or will he fixed them soon before reconstruction

I only have one expander and haven't had a fill (it's at 20 cc and the same size as my other breast), but the breast and plastic surgeons both told me the final silicon implant will be softer, more natural, etc. I think my expander is flat and wide and it doesn't feel natural but I'm hoping the final reconstruction is better!
