Around my lumpectomy incision is still pretty hard. My breast is still swollen and it hurts to lift my arm above my head sometimes. Although annoying, they are consequences of me now being cancer free-so I will put up with them. It ia kinda scary though huh

I have had this hard area beside my nipple since my first surgery and the dr said it was fluid but it has not gone away. I am sooo sore and I am hoping all of this goes away after I finish radiation. Good luck to you all!

Hi. Yes, I have hard tissue that appeared after surgery/zero as/radiation. My oncologist said it is normal to have hard tissue. They tell me it is scar tissue. I had my first follow up mammogram and they had to magnify the digital pictures and the did a tighter compression to make sure nothing was brewing. The radiologist told me they found nothing new, so it was only scar tissue. P

I had a lumpectomy, one year ago today, and radiation. I don't have any hard places but I don't know if that is normal. I would check with your doctor to see what is normal for you.

yes, I had a hard swollen area from where the fluid went. it was very painful and hard to wear normal bras. in fact, it's been since Oct. and still have some minor pain. normal bras still arent great. it's annoying, but I'm cancer free, so I guess it's worth it!! Hopefully the discomfort subsides soon! I think my discomfort is probably related to radiation too (finished in Jan)

Yes!!!! In about a month I'm having a DIEP flap and a mastectomy. I never thought I would be looking forward to a mastectomy

Yes I have hard places - I was opened up 3 times for the lumpectomy. It is normal it is scar tissue that has formed. There are ways to try and break it up. You may ask your dr for a physical therapist that can help. I'm a nurse and have been trying to break mine down as well.
