I was just diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma grade 2. Anyone out there with same situation? I am leaning towards lumpectomy, but wondering if it is the right way to go?

It would depend on so many different things. You mentioned your tumor is grade 2. Do you know what stage you are? Are you HER2 - or ? BRACA? What do your other tests results say?

I opted for a bi lateral mastectomy, it gave me more peace of mind and I am glad I did it.

Yes, I had tissue expanders put in at the same time. I am part way through having them expanded. I have had a little bit of a hiccup because of scar tissue building up but that is just me and doesn't happen with most people but it looks like it will all turn out ok in the end. I am looking forward to having a pair of nice firm perky breast and not having to wear a bra ever again. It is the one positive thing to come out of all this and I consider it to be my reward. What type of reconstruction are you considering?

If that was an option presented to you, and you have heard the +'s & -'s if it sounds right then it's your body. Only you can choose the best for yourself based on the information you receive. Take care, Sharon

I have stage 2a breast cancer. I had a mastectomy because in my case my breast was small and I had tentacles coming from the 1.5 cm cancer cell. So my decision was best for me. I was glad I did it. But you must do what is right for you. Good luck . be thinking of you.

The clinical stage in my case is 1 due to the small size of tumor ( 1,4cm ) ,but I do not know the pathological stage yet. I am also waiting the results of genetic test to come out before my surgery. What kind of therapies you needed?

What is the size of your tumor? Are you planning to have a reconstruction at the time of mastectomy?

I have been diagnosed the same and went through mastectomy. Lumpectomy was not given to me as an option. But I am pleased they did mastectomy because they removed a 9cm lump on my left breast.
