I had the same thing and when they did the biopsy, it was DCIS. You have so many more options when it is diagnosed early. My advice- get a biopsy. Best of luck to you.

I believe a second opinion would ease your mind. It would mine. Most insurance companies cover second opinions. Best wishes, jayme

They will have to biopsy to determine if benign. Mine was determined to be DCIS. I think a lot of times it is benign.

Patricia, are you saying your Dr doesn't want a biopsy of these calcifications? If so, a second opinion would be helpful.

Based on your history, I would want them to do biopsy. A lot, as you know, can happen in a year. A biopsy is the only way to find out if it is of concern. I posted to another person recently about her calcifications. I told her what happened to me. Good luck!

I would like to thank all of you that has commented on my question. I was just so confused and concerned about what to do I will get a second opinion soon with a breast cancer center. I know a lot can change in a year I would feel better knowing what's going on now for my own piece of mind. If all it is a cyst , I will be thankful but my gut tells me to biopsy.

I have had 4 friends have these show up on a mammogram. All 4 were advised to get biopsy's, 3 were benign, and the 4th was diagnosed with DCIS. She was treated with a mastectomy because her's was so widespread. She did not get chemo or radiation as it wasn't warranted. She is having reconstruction.

If you would feel better about getting a second opinion, I ALWAYS listen to that little voice inside of me. It never hurts to get a secon opinion. If the second doctor says to get a biopsy, I would GO with that. You will then know, for sure, what that little cluster is. That size is very small. Please keep up posted. Take care, Sharon
