Before I had chemo. my oncologist ordered a "port" inserted into my upper chest. It was done under general anesthesia, even though I requested local. So.... I didn't feel a bit of pain. From the hospital after the port was place I went to the oncologist's office for my first chemo. treatement. I slept through most of it as I was exhausted but no pain at all. Being that yours is a different treatment I don't really know what is involved. I find when going through all of these procedures, they really try to make it as comfortable as they can. Don't be shy about asking anything about the procedure. Kindly question them before ANYTHING is done.... how painful is this going to be? I would imagine, if it was going to be very painful, they would put you under either general anesthesia of some kind of sedation. You could always request something if you have a low tolerance to pain. Hang in there, gal!
