It will be based on how much drainage you are having. I had surgery on a Friday and saw my Surgeon the following Wednesday to check them. She could have removed them since I was having little drainage but opted to leave them until the following Monday as she didn't want to pull them and perhaps put them back in. I did have small seromas drained twice in the next month or so, she used a needle and syringe to get rid of them and was never bothered again with them.

It depends on how much drainage you are having. Your surgeon will determine when to remove them. Some people only have them for a week. I had 4 drains for 3 weeks. It was annoying but not painful or uncomfortable. You don't want them out too early. If you have fluid accumulation it will have to be removed. Just roll with it. They will come out soon enough. Good luck to you

So I had 3 drains but just last week the third one was taken out due to only putting out less than 20 mls in over 48 hours. After that drain was taken out my other two started producing over 100mls each and I started having more swelling where the lymph nodes were removed. Was just wondering if anyone else has had something similar. This is week 4 now for the the drains.

Just had my bilateral mastectomy yesterday. Drains are annoying, but I'm tolerating them netter than I thought I would
