Do you still have your drainage tubes in? If not your body may still be producing seromas and need to be drained (my opinion since I'm not a doctor). Also, did the surgeon remove lymph nodes as the ones they usually take are in the armpits?

I do still have my drainage tubes. They aren't draining very much and will be taken out this Wednesday.

Perhaps your drainage tube is blocked? One usually drains the armpit area and the other the chest if you have 2 like I did.

Talk to your surgeon. My guess it is alright. It took me about a month to have the swelling down. Dbl mastectomy is a huge surgery it takes a long time to heal completely.

Teri. It great you have only a little pain after your double mast !!.. If you have pressure around your chest area ... Maybe it's Seroma .. That's where there is a build up of fluid in your ex boob area ...it needs to be taken out they do this by a needle in to that area and draining the fluid out .. It doesn't hurt as the whole area is still numb ... The doctor or breast nurse will be able to check all this out !!... I had over 3 mths after my double mast .. Up to 3 visits a week to the breast care nurse .. She drained out 700mls from 1 breast a few times ... But it's better out than in as it may become infected .... Also make sure your moving your arms around doing your exercises .. So you don't develop cording !!... Maybe you need to see a Physio and your doctor just to check The whole area checked out. Good luck

I had a lot of selling under the arm for a long time (like 6 months). It finally looks normal like the other side, and I have some feeling that came back too. It used to be completely numb. Best to call your doctor if you are concerned though.

Definitely talk to your surgeon. If you notice swelling in your arm, you might see about getting a prescription for lymphedema therapy. They work work wonders and will teach exercises and massage techniques to help quell the swelling if that's what it is. Did you do immediate reconstruction? If not, you might also ask for a prescription for prosthetics, which really helps with self image... Not really related to the pain, but something I went for months without after a failed attempt at reconstruction because I had no idea!!

Talk to PT and lymphaderma specialist. I had appts twice a week until the muscles returned to their usual spots. It took work and was an unexpected extra therapy. More appts.best to your full recovery

Never be afraid to call your surgeon. If you had lymph nodes removed from your armpit, that is especially uncomfortable. You still probably have a lot of swelling and that where the discomfort is coming from. Since we are not doctor's, we are just guessing. It is best to call your surgeon asap. Take care, Sharon
